Over the course of one night that changes everything, a doctor moves between the sterile white lights of the hospital and the shadows of the city.
She is a specialist in pain and consciousness, spending her days numbing people, making them feel nothing. Yet a question she has buried for so long catches up with her: Can life still offer her joy, and the possibility of being moved? Or is she, like the bodies she places under anaesthesia, gradually losing her sense of feeling, touch, and warmth in the world?
Her journey unfolds between two interwoven realities: the hospital, with its routines and procedures, where an emergency patient hovers at the edge of life, waiting to be saved; and the city’s lost places, where she crosses paths with others - also adrift in the dark - searching for meaning, connection, or escape.
As these two worlds begin to blur, the boundaries between doctor and patient, rescuer and rescued, dissolve. She fights to save a life, but her own awakening becomes the battle she cannot ignore. After a lifetime of numbing the pain of others, will she finally confront her own?
