Born in Cyprus in 1984, Stephanos Droussiotis is a multidisciplinary theatre artist whose work bridges direction, lighting, and music. He studied Piano Performance at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main and Theatre Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Career & Collaborations
Stephanos began his professional journey in 2009, when he was selected by Robert Wilson to join the Watermill Center Summer Program in New York, an experience that shaped his artistic perspective and continues to inspire his creative practice. That same year marked the beginning of his long-standing collaboration with Greek director Dimitris Papaioannou, with whom he has worked closely ever since, creating music and lighting designs for most of his major productions since 2015. He has also collaborated with a number of theatre directors and choreographers, including Christos Papadopoulos, Euripides Laskaridis, Mario Banushi, Thanasis Deligiannis among others. His international work also includes a collaboration with the legendary Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, where he designed the music and lighting for Since She (2017).

In addition to his work for the stage, Stephanos has shown a strong interest in creating for young audiences. He has conceived and directed two theatre works for children, both focusing on creating meaningful experiences through music and theatre: The Keys, based on six stories by child therapist Nancy Davis, and 88 Little Symphonies, written and directed by him, introducing young audiences to classical music through a series of philosophical questions. Expanding his creative scope beyond theatre, in 2023 Stephanos served as the Creative Producer for Louis Vuitton’s Deep Time High Jewellery Collection, presented at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens.

Projects & Commissions
Stephanos conceived and curated Dubitanda, a three-month annual theatre festival for the Cyprus Theatre Organisation, dedicated to post-dramatic performance. He was the music supervisor and core creative member of the Baku 2015 European Games Opening Ceremony, creating the music script of the ceremony, recorded by Teodor Currentzis, which included an anthem for the athletes performed live by Lady Gaga during the event. In 2019, he served as music supervisor for the 48th UAE National Day Celebration in Abu Dhabi, a work recorded by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

International Presence
As a lighting designer and music arranger, Stephanos’ work has been presented on several major stages around the world, including Onassis Stegi (GR), Sadler’s Wells (UK), Théâtre de la Ville (France), BAM (USA), Festival d’Avignon (France) and many more.
